I've never been in a Tattoo & Piercing Studio before, are they clean inside? Our customers often comment on how well we maintain the studio. Our artists and floor staff work hard to make sure sanitary standards are maintained at all times.

Do tattoos or piercings hurt? That is really personal opinion. There is some pain involved with getting a tattoo or piercing but, in reality, tattoos are more irritating and annoying than painful. The level of pain varies from person to person, but most people don't find it unbearable. The best thing to do is just accept the discomfort and relax. Fighting or tensing will only increase your discomfort. Each person has a different pain tolerance, so don't go with what your buddy says because they may have been tattooed or pierced somewhere besides here, or by an amateur.

Is getting a tattoo with color more painful than with black?

No, it is not. Colored ink is pretty much the same as black ink. Once you are done with the outlines, which are usually black anyway, the most painful part is over.

Will I bleed during my tattoo or piercing? There will be a small amount of blood. The amount varies for each person but is usually about what you would expect from a scraped knee or a rug burn. Drinking alcohol before a tattoo or piercing can increase the amount of bleeding.

What if my tattoo needs a touch-up after healing? If your tattoo needs a touch-up that's no problem. Go in and see the artist that did your tattoo and they will be happy to do a touch-up. It is best to go in during the week for a touch-up due to the weekends being busier for your artist.

What if I feel faint or dizzy during a tattoo or piercing? To avoid this make sure you eat before coming in and just relax. If you start to feel faint or a little "green", tell your artist or piercer right away instead of toughing it out. There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking a break. Your artist or piercer is prepared for this sort of thing and knows how to handle it.

Can I get my old tattoo reworked or covered? Of course, you can. Every tattoo, old or not, can be reworked or covered with something else. Reworking an old tattoo of yours should not be problem. Just go to our studio and talk to an artist and explain your problem to him or her. I'm sure they can go over it again or do something to help you out. If you decide to get a cover-up the only problem that could occur is to cover a tattoo that is already really dark, because the artist can't use a lighter color to go over it. You can take a look at a few cover-ups and reworks in our galleries.

Can I get a tattoo while I'm pregnant? No you can't get a tattoo while pregnant.

Can I get a tattoo if I'm a diabetic?You need to make sure you are in general good health except for being diabetic. Tattoos will take longer to heal than they do with non diabetics, and are easier to get infections, which can affect the final outcome of your tattoo. The best policy is to talk with your artist.

What is the risk of diseases from a tattoo or piercing?Getting a tattoo CAN BE COMPLETELY SAFE as thousands of people have tattoos applied each year. We are a professional tattoo studio implementing proper sterilization techniques. We use single service equipment. The artist or piercer will open fresh needles, tubes, forceps or jewelry in front of you. Any ointments, pigments, needles, gloves, razors, plastic trays or containers used during your tattoo or piercing are discarded after use. The artist or piercer will disinfect the work area with an EPA approved virucidal that will kill any surface bacteria or viruses. We use the same sterilization equipment as used in hospitals. We are inspected by the County Health Department on a regular basis. All of our tattoo artists and piercers are trained and certified in Blood Borne Pathogens and First-Aid.

Will my tattoo or piercing get infected? You should always follow the aftercare instructions that the artist or piercer gives you after your procedure is done. If you don't keep it clean while it is healing, your tattoo or piercing can get infected, just like any open wound. Any time the skin is perforated, there is the risk of an infection from microbes. We recommend the use of an anti-bacterial soap when cleaning your piercing or healing tattoo.

What do I do if I have a problem with my piercing or tattoo? If you are having a problem with a tattoo, body piercing, or jewelry, come in and talk to a tattoo artist or piercer and show them what is going on. They can help you much better if they can actually see the problem you are experiencing.

How do I care for my new tattoo ? After the procedure is complete, the Tattoo will be covered by the artist. Remove cover in 2 - 4 hours, wash with mild soap, cool water and blot dry ( do not wipe). Do not re-cover Tattoo, unless you will be subjecting it to getting dirty. Twice a day (only) for one week the Tattoo should be cleaned with mild soap and cool water and a very, very thin coat of A&D ointment applied. After this week just let the tattoo heal naturally. The average healing time is 1 ½ weeks to 2 weeks.Do not apply anything, besides A&D Ointment to the Tattoo without first discussing it with your artist. Do not soak the new tattoo in tub or spray shower directly on tattoo. Do not expose to sun, tanning beds, pools, spas, swimming or vaseline. Do not pick, scratch, rub or over medicate tattoo. Do not follow anyone else’s instructions.To keep your tattoo looking good for years to come, use sunblock every time it will be exposed to sun or tanning beds because the darker your skin gets, the duller it will look. If you experience any trouble with the healing of your new Tattoo, contact Beyond Taboo Tattoo Studio (preferably the artist that did it), and we will be glad to assist you.“If you follow these instructions and, for some reason, your tattoo needs touching up after the two week healing period, contact your artist for a free touch-up.

How much does it cost?Tattoo prices vary according to the size and tattoo designs. Our shop minimum for tattoos is $50. Of course, a larger and more complex design will cost more than a smaller, simpler one . To give you an idea, relatively simple tattoo designs that are quite small (about the size of a silver dollar) will usually cost about $70 or $80. Prices vary though, so the best thing to do is to ask. Bring your design if you have one in mind and we will be able to quote you a price right then and there. But it is almost impossible to quote a tattoo over the phone, so please come in.

My tattoo itches during healing, is this normal ?Yes, it is. Every tattoo, doesn't matter where on the body it is, is going to start to itch after about a week or even sooner. Once the healing process starts it is going to start to itch. Do NOT scratch your new tattoo during healing process. If it itches, lightly slap the area (without disturbing the scab) and this should stop the itching.

Is there any chance of an allergic reaction? There is a very, very slight chance you could have an allergic reaction to the pigments, the ointment, etc. so if you are allergic to anything at all, make sure you tell your artist. Allergic reactions can usually be treated pretty easily with ointment though.

Do you do Custom Tattoos, can I bring in my own tattoo design? Of course, you can. We love doing custom tattoos, so bring any reference material or ideas you may have that could help your artist understand what you want and talk to an artist.

Can I get a Custom Tattoo done in one day?Simple custom tattoos can usually be done the same day you come in, if we are not booked, but ones the require extra attention will need to be done by appointment.

Do you charge extra to draw a Custom Tattoo?We do not charge extra to draw a custom tattoo but we do require a non-refundable deposit that comes off the price of the tattoo.

What should I do in order to make getting a tattoo go easier? You should not drink any alcohol or take any drugs before you get your tattoo. Alcohol thins your blood and will cause more bleeding. If you are taking heavy medication, make sure to inform your tattoo artist about it. You should also eat before going to get your tattoo. During the tattoo just do what the artist tells you, be still and not move etc.

How long should I avoid direct sunlight? You don't have to avoid sunlight completely. If you go out into the sun just make sure the new tattoo is properly covered until it has healed completely. You should wait at least 2 weeks or until the tattoo is healed before exposing it to the sun. Exposing it to sunlight too much will fade out the colors.

How soon can I go swimming? Not until the tattoo has healed completely, at least 2 weeks. Healing time varies person to person. It is healed completely once the peeling of the skin has stopped. Do NOT soak in water before tattoo is healed.

What about homemade tattoos? Generally not a good idea, for the purpose of infection issues in "homemade colors and needles". An amateur is NOT qualified in proper technique or infection control. One of the most frequently asked questions we hear is: "Where can I get the tattoo a friend of mine did on me, reworked or covered?". Chances are your tattoo will NOT turn out satisfactory, and you will end up in a studio getting it fixed, sooner or later, which generally costs more than the design would have been to start with.

I am under 18, can I get a tattoo or piercing if my parent signs?In Georgia you can get a piercing while under 18, with parent consent, signature and being present, BUT you cannot get a tattoo in Georgia while under 18!

In Florida you can get a tattoo or piercing as long as your parent signs a consent form AND has it notarized, and they are present during procedure. The forms that have to be notarized can be downloaded by "CLICKING HERE for tattoo consent form" and "CLICKING HERE for piercing consent form". And these forms MUST be Notarized..

Also in both states you and your parent must have a valid picture ID.
